Post depth not specified
Posts must be set below the frost line (24–48" depending on state) and in concrete. Shallow posts heave and lean within years. Any bid that does not specify post depth and concrete is missing a critical spec.
Linear footage not stated
A lump sum fence bid without a linear footage count makes it impossible to verify pricing. Always get $/LF and total LF separately.
Gate hardware not specified
Gate hardware is where corners get cut. Ask for hardware brand and whether gate posts are extra-heavy-duty (required for any gate over 4 feet wide).
No permit for front yard or HOA approval
