Privacy Policy

The Short Version

We collect the minimum data needed to provide the service. We don't sell your data. We don't share your bid information with contractors or advertisers. Your bid data is sent to an AI service for analysis and is not stored by that service for training purposes.

What We Collect

Account information: Email address and password (or Google account identifier if you sign in with Google). Used for authentication only.

Project and bid data: Project details (type, size, location zip code, budget range) and contractor bid information (amounts, line items, terms) that you enter into BidLens. This is your data — you can delete it at any time.

Usage data: Basic analytics (pages visited, features used, analysis count) to improve the product. We do not track you across other websites.

Feedback: Any feedback you voluntarily submit about analysis accuracy.

How We Use Your Data

• To provide the service: Your bid data is processed to generate analysis, comparisons, and recommendations.
• AI analysis: When you request an analysis, your project and bid data is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. Anthropic does not use API inputs for model training. See Anthropic's privacy policy for details.
• To improve BidLens: Aggregated, anonymized usage patterns help us improve the analysis engine and user experience. We do not use your individual bid data for this purpose without your consent.
• To communicate with you: Service-related emails only (account, critical updates). No marketing emails unless you opt in.

Where Your Data Lives

Database: Your account and project data is stored in Supabase (hosted on AWS in the United States). Data is encrypted at rest and in transit.

AI processing:When you run an analysis, your bid data is sent to Anthropic's API for processing. The data is used only to generate your analysis response and is not retained by Anthropic for training.

Hosting:BidLens is hosted on Vercel. Standard server logs may contain IP addresses and are retained per Vercel's standard policies.

What We Don't Do

• We do not sell your personal information or bid data to anyone.
• We do not share your bid details with contractors, lead generation services, or advertisers.
• We do not use your individual bid data to train AI models.
• We do not serve ads.
• We do not track you across other websites.

Data Retention & Deletion

Your project and bid data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete individual projects or your entire account at any time. Upon account deletion, your data will be permanently removed from our database within 30 days.

Cookies

We use essential cookies only — for authentication session management. No tracking cookies, no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies.

Third-Party Services

• Supabase: Authentication and database hosting
• Anthropic (Claude API): AI analysis processing
• Vercel: Application hosting
• Google: OAuth sign-in (if you choose Google sign-in)

Children's Privacy

BidLens is not intended for use by anyone under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice.
