Terms of Service

1. What BidLens Is (and Isn't)

BidLens is an AI-powered tool that helps homeowners review and compare contractor bids for home improvement projects. It provides informational analysis based on publicly available data, manufacturer specifications, and general construction knowledge.

BidLens is not a substitute for professional advice. Our analysis is informational only and does not constitute engineering, architectural, legal, or financial advice. Always consult licensed professionals for structural assessments, code compliance verification, and contract review before signing any agreement.

2. Beta Program

BidLens is currently in beta. By using this service, you acknowledge that:

  • The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
  • Features may change, break, or be removed without notice.
  • AI analysis may contain errors, inaccuracies, or omissions. You are responsible for independently verifying any information before acting on it.
  • We may limit, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time.

3. Your Account

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must be at least 18 years old to use BidLens.

4. Your Data

You retain ownership of all bid data, project information, and other content you upload or enter into BidLens. By using the service, you grant us a limited license to process this data solely for the purpose of providing the analysis service to you.

We do not sell your data. We do not share your bid information with contractors, advertisers, or other third parties. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

5. AI Analysis Disclaimer

BidLens uses artificial intelligence to analyze contractor bids. You understand and agree that:

  • AI analysis is based on general knowledge, manufacturer specifications, and regional pricing data. It cannot account for site-specific conditions, local code amendments, or the full context of your project.
  • Pricing benchmarks are approximate ranges derived from publicly available data and may not reflect current market conditions in your specific area.
  • Structural and code compliance analysis is informational only. Only a licensed engineer, architect, or building inspector can make definitive structural or code determinations for your project.
  • Red flags and warnings are indicators to investigate further — not definitive conclusions about a contractor's integrity or competence.
  • You are solely responsible for your hiring decisions, contract negotiations, and any financial commitments you make with contractors.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BidLens and its owners, operators, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the service.

Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of BidLens shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or fifty dollars ($50), whichever is greater.

You agree that BidLens is not responsible for any decisions you make based on the analysis provided, including but not limited to contractor selection, contract terms, payment amounts, or project scope.

7. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless BidLens, its owners, and affiliates from any claims, losses, or damages (including attorney's fees) arising from your use of the service or your violation of these terms.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: use the service for any unlawful purpose; upload malicious content; attempt to reverse-engineer the AI analysis engine; resell or redistribute analysis results commercially; or use the service to harass, defame, or harm any contractor or individual.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated terms on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Your continued use of BidLens after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to conflict of law principles.
